The Royal Flying Doctors – The Outback Car Trek
Mark O’Sullivan has currently been working to transform a Datsun 1600 to participate in the Royal Flying Doctors Outback Car Trek and also the Mini Trek to raise much needed funds for the RFD.
Involved in the project with Mark are Rob Lanham and Colin Walker from Wales Truck Repairs, Greg Lemmon from Scotts Refrigerated Freightways and John Gorman from Emu Auto Trim.

Recent Works
Holden HK350 Monaro
We had a customer in South Australia that was looking for a genuine radiator to suit a HK350 Monaro he was restoring.
Fortunately for him we were able to accommodate as we had a set of top and bottom tanks in stock and also the original sidebands.
Adrad were able to produce a new core and the customer was completely satisfied. We still have some early model radiator parts available so if you need something for a restoration we may be able to help, just give us a call !!
1935 Singer
It’s always amazing what comes out of the woodwork at times and what cars people have stored away in a garage or shed.
Recently we had to supply and fit a new core to a 1935 Singer radiator that was housed in the Southern Highlands of NSW. The tanks and side bands were still in good condition with only minor repairs needed. Adrad can manufacture cores to suit most old cars in about a week.
Therefore there is no need to search the internet for overseas suppliers. Please give us a call if you have any special job requirements.
Western Star Radiator
We now have 3 Western Star radiators in stock with new cores fitted. They are available on a change over basis so that you will minimise your down time and have your truck back on the road fast !!
Some of the models available are:
4800, 4800FX, 4900, FX4900, fx4965 x 4864FXC
Please call for availability if your model isn’t listed as we have a full range of Western Star cores available usually with a one day turnaround to recore your radiator.
KOMATSU
A customer had a Komatsu Dozer that was being used in large earthmoving and forestry clearing. The factory radiator was made of aluminium and was constantly being damaged resulting in regular replacement of the radiator.
We offered him a solution by fabricating a complete new radiator with steel top and bottom tanks and a heavy duty copper core with steel capped fins on the front and back of the core.
This allowed us to match the cooling capacity of the aluminium unit with the strength of a steel core. We have done numerous jobs of this nature over the years so if you have a problem with any cooling issues we are likely to be able to offer a solution. Also the cost of the fabricated unit was still cheaper than the original from the dealer !
SUMITOMO
A customer came in with a Sumitomo Excavator radiator that the top tank had exploded rendering the machine inoperable. The customer had two choices, to get it repaired or buy a new one.
To purchase a new unit from the dealer was going to cost between $12,000 - $13,000 plus air freight on top and take approximately two weeks to obtain.
We manufactured a complete new radiator with fabricated top and bottom tanks out of 2mm steel. Adrad manufactured a new core to the original specifications and he was back on the jobsite in one week. Also our radiator was about the quarter of the cost.
Everybody likes to save money but take a minute to think about the most important issue here, can you imagine if a mechanic was working on the machine at the time it exploded or someone had lifted the engine cover to do a routine check, they would have been severely burnt.
Most plastic tank radiators whether it be a car, truck or machine show signs of fatigue. The main signs to look for are discolouration of the plastic or signs of the plastic crazing on the top tank. It may be a good time to do a routine check (while the system is cold) to avoid a disaster later. Please call if you have any questions.
Something Interesting
